In hypnosis will I remember everything that happens?
Yes you certainly will, hypnotherapy differs greatly to the image perpetuated by stage hypnosis. You will remain in control throughout and remember the whole session.
Will I disclose my deepest darkest secrets?
This is often an area of concern and one that I would like to reassure you will not happen. As you remain fully in control you will decide what you wish to disclose and be fully able to make your own decisions around this.
What if I can’t be hypnotised?
Hypnosis is a very natural state, have you ever driven somewhere on automatic pilot and not recalled the journey? If so then you were in a light state of hypnosis/trance. The same can be applied to relaxing watching TV or daydreaming on a train. Therefore all people can be hypnotised because hypnosis is a normal natural state that we all enter briefly on a daily basis. The only bar to being hypnotised is deciding you do not want to be hypnotised. In that case because you are in control, it simply won’t happen.
Will I behave oddly in hypnosis?
Often on the basis of stage hypnosis people can have concerns that they may behave oddly. Hence the oft quoted “running around like a chicken” example. Again I would like to reassure you this will not happen with professional and ethical hypnotherapy, unless of course you wish to do so!
Will hypnotherapy work for me?
Hypnotherapy has a very high success rate, particularly with treatments such as qutting smoking and fears & phobias. However for the very best outcome it is important that the client has a good degree of motivation for seeking the change & that the client and hypnotherapist have a good professional rapport. Where that is in place hypnotherapy is a highly successful therapy.
What does hypnosis feel like?
You may be surprised to discover that there is no such thing as a hypnotised feeling. Many clients experience hypnosis as a very relaxed and enjoyable feeling. Others have a feeling of heaviness, lightness, or tingling in their bodies, some describe a sense of euphoria & invigoration. Still others report that their limbs may feel longer or shorter than usual, and some clients don't feel any different in hypnosis, and are surprised by how successful their treatment has been in the absence of a "hypnotised feeling". As such each persons experience of what it feels like to be in hypnosis/hypnotherapy differs. The common feedback from clients even with different experiences of what if feels like, is that it is a very enjoyable, relaxing & effective form of therapy.
